Pollokshields Heritage Worship

    Pollokshields Week 1981

These photos were taken during Pollokshields Week in June 1981. There was a colourful parade with marching bands and floats with locals in fancy dress.

PH would be interesting to hear memories of this event and to know whether you can see yourself in any of the images? Do you recognise the marching bands?

Parade turns up Albert Drive from Forth St.

Michael was a Pollokshields resident, too.

Fun on the float. The church in Leslie Street in the background was destroyed by fire shortly after this.  And is that a collecting tin....?

After (or before) the bike race. Someone must recognise a face in the crowd – or are you a child in this shot who is now in your forties?

Literary theme, but how did Mary Poppins  get into Alice in Wonderland?
